Murad

Dr. Howard Murad grew up in Queens, New York and earned his degree at Brooklyn College of Pharmacy. Then, Dr. Murad attended University of California at Irvine Medical School. After that, he completed his rotating internship back in New York at Queens Hospital. From 1969 to 1972, Dr. Murad had his dermatology residency at the Veteran's Administration Hospital at UCLA.

In 1972, the young Dr. Murad started his first practice in California as a dermatologist. With a 400 square foot office and a single nurse, Dr. Murad only had one patient in his first week. He worked hard to build his credit in the practice, day after day and person by person. In 1995, Dr. Murad had built a patient base of over 40,000 people.

During the time while large numbers of patient still came to see a dermatologist for treating their acne, skin cancer, psoriasis, etc, Dr. Murad began to pay more attention to a shift in priorities for his patients. The preventive skincare and the signs of aging are getting more and more significant.

In 1988, Dr. Murad have opened the first medically supervised day spa, named 'A Sense of Self' in Brentwook, California till 1994, the time when he moved the operation to its present El Segundo location.

In 1989, Dr. Murad introduced the first products. He called his line Murad and started a journey that might completely change the skincare field in general and dermatology. Those products included Oily Prone Skin Formula, Skin Smoothing Cream, and Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Gel. Now, Murad Skincare produces over sixty consumer skincare products along with many professional-strength treatments for estheticians and dermatologists.

In 2002, Dr. Murad sees his patients regularly while he oversees the Murad Spa locating next door. He also travels and gives speeches frequently to people who care a lot about their skin problems.

In 2003, Dr. Murad had his book "The Murad Method" be published. With the book, he spread his concepts of the Water Principle over people. The Water Principle is the most important factor in a topical and internal anti-aging program. Dr. Murad explored all the causes of aging and by using this program to the public, he present his revolutionary skincare philosophy.

The main factors in skin anti-aging program are not only focusing on a good skincare regimen but also on proper nutritional intake. In addition, Dr. Murad thinks that people's emotional status is also in charge of skin anti-aging situation. Therefore, treating a "whole" person, not just skin is the key to Dr. Murad's 5-week program. After finishing the program, people should have a better healthy condition than before.

In 2004, Dr. Murad began his "Next Generation Wellness Center." It became the heart of research for Murad Skincare Inc. Never stopping researching and innovating, Dr. Murad will continue to be a leader in the field of Dermatology and personal health and keep finding breaking through formulations and inspired solutions for people wellness.
